MIAMI (May 20, 2008) -- Maria Marin, host of ABC Radio Networks en Español’s Tu Vida Es Mi Vida, was honored today as The Medallas de Cortez “Personality of the Year” for the Top 10 radio markets. The Medallas de Cortez awards recognize excellence in Hispanic radio and are named for Raul de Cortez who founded KCOR, the first Spanish-language radio station in the United States in 1946. Marin accepted the award at the Hispanic Radio Conference hosted by Radio Ink Magazine in Miami. Jim Robinson, President of ABC Radio Networks and Elisa Torres, Senior Vice President of Hispanic Programming and Operations for ABC Radio Networks, were both at the conference to congratulate Marin on her achievement.
 
“We are so proud of the success Tu Vida Es Mi Vida has realized in just one year’s time,” said Elisa Torres of ABC Radio Networks. “Maria is a catalyst for Latina empowerment and it’s wonderful that she is receiving recognition in our industry.”

In addition to her weekly radio show, Marin writes a newspaper column, Mujer Sin Límite, which is published in the top Spanish language newspapers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. She also writes a monthly column for People Magazine en Español and is a celebrated motivational speaker. Marin has previously been recognized as both “Latina Woman of the Year” in 2006 and “Latina Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2004 by the National Latina Business Women Association.
